Getting in the Christmas Spirit!

Today was our first day back from Thanksgiving Break. The kiddos did a great job adjusting back into our routine! I was impressed at how well they did today. As a tradition in my classroom, the first day back from Thanksgiving is the day we decorate the classroom for Christmas. We spent some time putting the "special touch" on our room and then it was time for the tree! The kids were so excited they could barely contain it! Not to mention we were listening/singing to the Chipmunks Christmas CD's. :-) We put the tree together and we decorated it. The kiddos helped me do ALL of it! Here is how it went!

Throughout the next couple of weeks we will be making ornaments to add to our tree!

Thanksgiving Program

The past two weeks the students have been working HARD on our Thanksgiving Program. Each child had at least 1 line to learn/memorize for our program. Some of the students had 2-3 lines to memorize. I have to say that I am very proud of ALL of my students as well as the rest of our Kindergarten!! Here are a few pics I was able to snap before we began! Also there are a few pictures of the turkeys we colored today. :-)

They did such a GREAT job!!!

We Will Miss You

Today was the last day for one of my students. The kiddos are really going to miss her! She is a bright, cheery sweetheart and had many friends. I know tomorrow will be different for all of us! The kids wanted to make her a poster saying we would miss her and they all wanted to sign it! It was so sweet watching them all pick their color to sign their name on the card.

Big group hug

WE WILL MISS YOU!

Happy Veteran's Day!

Today is Veteran's Day and the kiddos had a special visitor come! Keith, my fiance, is in the Army National Guard and he came to read to the students and spend the afternoon with us!!! The kids were SO excited. They could not get enough of him. I was even told that I rock by a student, lol! :-) Keith read "If You Take A Mouse To School" and everyone enjoyed it. Also, since we have been preparing for his visit the students were eager to show him all the projects they had made for him! It was a GREAT afternoon!!!

Keith did a FANTASTIC job reading to the kiddos! They were so involved and were answering all his questions!

We are sitting by color to make an American Flag!

We made American Flag Pencils!!!

The students colored pictures of Soldiers!

This afternoon the kiddos made some Veteran's Day projects for our special visitor we are having tomorrow! They have been so excited and counting down the days!!! We designed our own camouflage and added an American Flag heart with a little message! Also, we are making flags to have on our desks! Here are a few pictures of everyone working hard and our finished project!

Some Catching Up!

This past week I was out sick a few days so I feel like I have a bunch of catching up to do! Here is a bit about what has been going on with us in KinderLand:

We finished our big unit on Arkansas History. We were having a coloring contest for each page we did to make a display out in our hallway! The winners of the contest were able to hang their picture on the wall. Here is our finished work! The kiddos are very proud!

We recently began learning about maps and globes. How to read them and locate different places. We decided to make a map of our bedrooms. Here is a couple that were chosen to go on the "Good Work Wall."

Also, this week we began our Thanksgiving Program practice where we tell the story of Thanksgiving. The children dress up as either an Indian or a Pilgrim. We are working very hard and cannot wait to perform for our school and our parents!

Veteran's Day is on Thursday, November 11th. This is a day we honor all our Veterans. This is a special day for me as well as many others. My soon to be hubby, Keith, is a soldier in the Army National Guard and has served two tours in Iraq. He will be coming to class (in uniform) to read to the kiddos on Thursday! I am so proud and thankful for him and all the other soldiers who have fought and are fighting for our freedom!!!
